High Performance Building

Buildings in the United States account for half of total energy consumption and nearly half of greenhouse gas emissions. As Americans, we spend so much time indoors that today buildings set the foundation for our health and sense of well-being along with how we work, play, interact, function, think, and behave.

The Alliance for Sustainable Colorado’s High-Performance Building Renovation project is an ambitious, careful exercise designed to extend the Alliance’s work with its century-old historic building, the Alliance Center. It’s not just about reducing energy consumption by 30 percent or decreasing water usage by 40 percent. The goal is to shift the way buildings serve people and function at their base level.
